The Stop Hate in Real Estate initiative will hold its next event on February 21 at 2 p.m. Eastern as we welcome Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) President Jamie Tan.

Jamie, a first-generation Chinese immigrant who has an inspiring story about how homeownership impacted her life, will lead an important session about the impact of ongoing discrimination and hatred against the Asian American/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community. She will be joined by prominent leaders within AREAA including Founder Jim Wong and past-Presidents Tim Hur and Kurt Nishimura.

Along with anti-Asian sentiment, discrimination and hate crimes that grew from President Trump identifying COVID as the "China flu," Florida has a new law that prohibits Chinese nationals from purchasing property. Other states have similar bills. These laws and bills will have far-reaching implications and add even greater barriers to homeownership for the AANHPI community.
